First PROLOGUE
A vast silence reigned over the land. The land itself was a desolation, lifeless, without
movement, so lone and cold that the spirit of it was not even that of sadness. The
trees here were a reflection of that emptiness and so were the empty sea at its center,
and then so was the great unknown. Unfolding, up and down, in the emptiness
of the planet.
All the lights seemed to have been extinguished.
But the Mist remained.
